North Tipperary County Council's Arts Office in partnership with North Tipperary County Childcare Committee are leading a collaborative project with the aim of contributing to the development of arts practice for an early years audience. The residency will place Little Bigtop's Joanna Williams in a Childcare Centre to work with staff, parents and children to create a series of projects and creative experiences. We are now looking for expressions of interest from Childcare Service Providers based in North Tipperary. Further details are in the below document.

National Recreation Week 2011 takes place country wide
from Friday 28th October to Thursday 3rd November next. The week is
primarily concerned with promoting the recreational needs of children and
young people aged 12 to 18 years old. The Arts Office of North Tipperary
County Council in association with Spleodar, Nenagh Community Arts Festival
will be holding two events to celebrate National Recreation Week.
The first of these events is the weeklong exploration of the film making process culminating in the production and screening of a short film by participants. Hello Camera will work with ten young members of Nenagh’s Foroige Youth Club to create a short film. Participants will delve into ideas generation, script development, filming and experience the editing process of film during this project. The film will have its first public screening during the Spleodar Festival on Sunday 30th October outside Nenagh Arts Centre in Bamba Square and of course this screening is free and open to all!
The second event due to take place as part of National Recreation week is an outdoor family show by Tumble Circus who will shock and amaze spectators with their juggling, slapstick, hula hoop and acrobatics all mixed with Comedy. This event will also take place on Sunday 30th October as part of Spleodar Sunday Spectacular outside Nenagh Arts Centre. This event is due to begin at 3.00pm .
These are free events and Families with children of
all ages are encouraged to come out and to enjoy the festivities of National
Recreation Week and the Spleodar Festival. Funding for the above events was
secured from the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.

The family friendly festival boasts an exciting mix of workshops, music, street theatre and arts events. Highlights of the festival include: the annual haunted tour through Nenagh's Old Goal with members of PLAY YT, the annual fireworks display on Halloween night, a special screening of Tim Burton's "Edward Scissorhands" and acts including Cork Circus, The WhistleBlast Quartet and Tumble Circus and much more!

Fireworks at Spleodar, Nenagh's Community Arts Festival 2010
The October Bank Holiday weekend will see the people of North Tipperary spoilt for choice with an array of festivals taking place in the county from Nenagh to Thurles. With events such as the Haunted Tour in Nenagh to Gypsy Jazz music in Cloughjordan to Guiness World Record breaking attempts in Thurles to the Gruffallo & Friends in Ballina, there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Spleodar Nenagh Community Arts Festival takes place from Saturday 29th October - Tuesday 1st November. Now in it's eleventh year, the festival hosts an exciting mix of street performance, arts events, music and workshops. You can learn how to build a rocket, find out how sounds are made, watch a circus tumble and found out where the Goldilock's Zone is. Every event has a fun element to it and every event just begs an audience to come in and get involved. The festival fosters a family-friendly atmosphere, designed to fill in those mid-term Halloween hours with some activity and a few frights along the way. Acts include Cork Circus, The WhistleBlast Quartet and Tumble Circus in performance as well as a wide variety of arts workshops for children and young people. The annual Haunted Tour with PLAY YT (formerly Nenagh Youth Theatre) through Nenagh's Old Goal is always bound to leave one with sleepless nights and the festival also includes special screening of Tim Burton's fantastical 'Edward Scissorhands' on the big screen. The annual fireworks event will light up the skies of Nenagh on Halloween night. Thurles Halloween Festival takes place in venues throughout Thurles from the 29th - 31st October. It is a family themed festival with Halloween themed workshops and events on offer to cater for all the family. This year, the festival will attempt to set a new world record for the most dresses up in Halloween costumes. The festival will conclude on the 31st October with its annual fireworks display in Thurles Rugby Club. Ballina/Killaloe's annual festival Feile Eile has expanded from 3 days to 3 weeks, with a load of new activities including circus skills and a silent disco. One of the highlights of the festival is the 'Great Big Fun Day' on Saturday 15th October - a packed day of workshops for 4 - 44 year olds. The festival will conclude on Sunday 30th October with the Gruddallp & Friends, an interactive live music show centered on the classic story of the cunning mouse and the scariest beast in the forest....the Grudffalo. Cloughoberfest takes place in the village of Cloughjordan from the 28th - 30th October. The three day festival will present four concerts featuring the cream of gypsy jazz musicians from Ireland and around the world including Robin Nolan, Andreas Carady and Samuel C Lees. The festival also boasts a full workshop programme. Each concert will take place in the wonderful setting of St. Kiernan's Church. The 8th annual Dromineer Literary Festival takes place from Thursday 29th September - Sunday 2nd October next. Highlights of the festival include the Adult Poetry workshop with Dermot Healy, the Adult Short Story workshop with Vincent McDonnell, Meet the Authors with Jennifer Johnston & John McKenna, A Poetry Performance by the Poetry Divas, Sunday Afternoon Afloat on Lough Derg with Rick Boelens & Dan Minchin and the Festival Finale with Nenagh Players.

Cloughjordan Culture Night promises to be a night of free entertainment, art and heritage events. switch is an event that promotes and shows contemporary works of moving image in a public context. It offers an alternative way to navigate familiar places, creating new encounters. switch has to date shown artworks by 23 international artists who have through the the project invited the public into their practice, ideas and viewpoints. switch locates itself outside the big city and applies itself to the rhythm of smaller places. Closing date for submissions is Tuesday 1st November 2011. The event will run from the 5th - 12 February 2012 in Nenagh.

The
Bealtaine Festival is a National Programme run throughout May each year in
association with Age & Opportunity and all over the country older persons
groups and individuals are actively involved in Arts events, workshops and
activities. North & South Tipperary Arts Services and Tipperary Libraries
are co-ordinating a festival together to develop a Bealtaine Festival across
the whole county. Most events are free and open to the public. Taking its
name from the ancient Celtic festival celebrating Springtime, Bealtaine
celebrates renewal, creativity and growth in ageing. Why not try something
different this May, go on…. push the boat out!
