Introduction

The Community & Enterprise Department is involved in progressing a number of Local Authority functions. These include facilitating and managing North Tipperary Local Authorities' Disability Strategy in accordance with the Disability Act 2005 and the National Disability Strategy, CLAR Village Enhancement Project, Thurles Regional Arts Centre and the Local Authority Playground Grant Scheme.

The North Tipperary Community & Voluntary Association (CAVA) represents the Community & Voluntary Sector in the Local Government structures in North Tipperary. CAVA is funded by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and the funding is administered by the Community & Enterprise Department.

The County Childcare Committee is accommodated within the Community & Enterprise Department. The County Childcare Committee has the lead role in supporting the development of quality childcare places in the county under the National Childcare Investment Programme (NCIF) 2006-2010. The Committee's staffing, funding and general administration are administered and supported by the C&E Department. The Committee is chaired by a staff member who also acts in a support role to the co-ordinator & staff.
