The National Development Plan proposals for the National Primary Routes in North Tipperary are set out below.  The CPO for the proposed new N7 Nenagh to Limerick has been confirmed and it is hoped that the land acquisition stage will be completed in 2004. Preferred routes have been selected for other schemes within the North Tipperary County including the N8 Cashel-Cullahill (Kilkenny Co. Co. - Lead Authority) and N7 Castletown to Nenagh (Laois Co Co - lead Authority).

The National Roads Needs Study proposed that a number of improvements be made to regional and county roads including R498 at Latteragh.
