Vision for North Tipperary
2.1 Vision Statement
The Plan recognises the important role that North Tipperary performs within
the Mid-West Region in terms of enhanced economic competitiveness. The Plan
also recognises that North Tipperary continues to be a good place to live,
work, invest in and visit. This section of the plan seeks to put forward a
vision for the sustainable and balanced development of the County as follows:
- SUSTAINABILITY: To realise the economic, social and
cultural potential of the County in a manner that will not undermine
such aims for future generations.
- COMPETITIVENESS: To promote Nenagh and Thurles as
regional growth centres, maximise our strategic location as a County
on the N7, N8 and rail corridors, and seek improvement in the economy
across the County.
- QUALITY OF LIFE: To seek balanced communities in order
to promote social, environmental and economic well being.
- QUALITY OF ENVIRONMENT: To promote responsible guardianship
of the natural and cultural environment so that current and future generations
can enjoy a healthy environment.
- SOCIAL INCLUSION: To seek to redress social inequalities
and social polarisation, and engage the public at all possible times
to seek consensus on planning for the future.
