While the extent and range of services and stock will vary from branch to branch, all libraries provide core services such as lending and reference for adults and children.

A special request service can be availed of at all branches and every effort is made to ensure that articles or books requested are supplied as quickly as possible.
A central Local History / Archives Department is located at the Co. Library HQ., Castle Avenue, Thurles (0504-21555). Because of the uniqueness of the collection, this is a reference-only service but every effort is made to ensure that queries by post, telephone, fax or e-mail are responded to quickly and efficiently.
The home of the County Tipperary Historical Society is the Co. Library HQ., Castle Avenue, Thurles (0504-21555). The Society produces an annual Journal which fosters new research in the history, geography, archaeology and folklore of County Tipperary. For membership of this Society, and details regarding publications and activities, contact the Treasurer at the above address.
The Schools Library Service, which operates from the County Library Headquarters, Castle Avenue, Thurles (0504-21555) aims to provide a comprehensive mobile book service to all rural primary schools in the county.
A support service aimed at meeting the needs of Adult Literacy groups, tutors, students, etc., is also operated from the Co. Library HQ. Alternatively those who are interested can contact their nearest branch library.
