Dog fouling is a serious business! Not only does it spoil the environment for everybody else but it is also a serious health hazard, especially to our children playing in open spaces. If you have a dog, it is up to you as a responsible citizen to keep our environment safe and clean up if your dog fouls in a public place. If not, you are liable to be fined €150 under the Litter Pollution Act 1997.
Dog dirt is a health hazard and can cause disease, best know of which is a roundworm called toxocara canis. If the eggs of this worm are swallowed, it can result in a range of symptoms from aches and pains to bronchial conditions. In rare cases, sight can be damaged.
