Plastic Bag Levy

Waste Enforcement Officers from North Tipperary County Council are carrying out random spot-checks of retail outlets throughout the county, to ensure that the plastic bag levy is being applied properly.

The plastic bag levy is payable in all retail outlets, for example clothes shops, service stations, book stores, music stores and supermarkets. It is the retailer’s legal obligation to charge you for each plastic bag regardless of size (apart from those used to protect unpackaged fresh food) and you should see the 22c charge itemised separately on your receipt.
